I'm not much of a musicals guy, but I caught that one by chance, and it's aware of its own plot pitfalls and humor, and that makes it worth the excess musicality in my opinion.
Never had much reason to celebrate and got missed with the typical Norman Rockwell upbringing that included magical creatures and ceremonial figure heads.
